If You Don’t Guard Your Eyes, You Will Lose the War

If You Don’t Guard Your Eyes, You Will Lose the War

David says:

“I will not look at ANYTHING shameful.”

This is not about legalism. This is about input.

Jesus explains why the eyes matter:

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”
— Matthew 6:22

What you consistently look at determines what fills you.

HOW DO YOU CUT OFF TOXIC INPUT?

Paul gives the filter:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right… think about these things.”
— Philippians 4:8

This is a checklist. If content doesn’t pass the test, it doesn’t get access.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • Audit what you watch, scroll, listen to

  • Remove anything that normalizes sin or weakens conviction

  • Replace it with scripture, worship, or productive silence

Jesus also gives the nuclear option:

“If your eye causes you to sin, tear it out.”
— Matthew 5:29

That doesn’t mean literal self-harm — it means radical removal.

You don’t manage temptation.
You starve it.

God Bless You!
